   my great grandfather served on HMS Boadica during the Zulu wars. He served with the naval brigade from 19 March to 10 May 1879 and was awarded the South Africa medal with clasp. He was invalided out from Cape of Good Hope station in January 1880, His name was James White.

      it is always pleasing to have someone with a personal interest in our writing to comment.

      Now a question for you. Do you have access to photos of the crew, especially officers, of HMS Boadicea during the Zulu War? I assume that your great grandfather served with the Naval Brigade. A photo(s) would be a welcome addition to my article.
