Circular vent holes are present at the back of the frame, which also act as stitching holes for the attachment of velvet padding. The polished aluminum frames are washed with brown lacquer to give a pleasing appearance. The tin case was identical to that in which the WWII SLM’s were issued, but M&Co goggles had a dark red lining instead of green (right). The cases were polished steel, with an instruction transfer applied and then clear lacquered over, giving a golden appearance (centre). Top right, how the case often ages.
